GivePower Solar Water Farms Deliver 70 Million Liters of Safe Water in Haiti

GivePower’s Solar Water Farms have delivered more than 70 million liters of safe drinking water to communities in Haiti, reaching communities in Pointe-à-Raquette and Anse-à-Galets.

According to UNICEF, access to safe drinking water remains a daily challenge for 3.8 million people in Haiti, especially in rural, coastal and hard-to-reach communities where infrastructure is limited. Nearly 75 percent of Haitian households don’t have running water. And only 43 percent of rural communities have access to clean water, compared to 90 percent across Latin America and the Caribbean, according to the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction. Many water sources sit in hazard-prone areas, leaving communities vulnerable to drought, flooding and seismic events. In this context, a dependable, affordable way to access safe water changes what daily life looks like for families and communities.

Reaching the 70-million-liter milestone in Haiti has required multiple approaches. Through truck, e-bike and boat deliveries, GivePower has expanded access to safe water where it is needed most. This progress has been made possible by the resilience and dedication of GivePower’s Haiti teams, who work day in and day out to ensure communities have access to safe water, often in challenging and unpredictable conditions.

In partnership with Haiti WISH and WISH Canada, GivePower’s e-bike program is helping build a scalable, women-led water delivery model. This work enables women and girls to reclaim time previously spent collecting water, earn a reliable income and build financial independence — all while expanding safe water access within their communities.

GivePower’s efforts in Haiti are ongoing, with new opportunities to strengthen local systems. Priorities include scaling the women-led water delivery program with additional e-bikes, investing in a new water delivery truck, installing solar-powered electric boat motors and introducing recycling solutions to reduce plastic waste from water sachets.

70 million liters of safe water represents meaningful progress at a time when 3.6 billion people worldwide face water shortages. It also shows what’s possible when GivePower continues investing in solar solutions that are reliable, adaptable and designed to last, while continuing to evolve in response to community needs.
