SOLAR WATER FARMS

To date, GivePower has distributed 408,200,000 liters of clean safe, drinking water, changing lives and creating opportunity.

Each system is built to remain productive for over 20 years, creating a lasting solution to water challenges.

Solar Water Farms go beyond traditional wells and boreholes by removing salt and contaminants, delivering clean, drinkable water. Clean water minimizes waterborne disease, one of the world’s leading causes of death, especially in children.

Solar Water Farms create local jobs, stimulate water delivery businesses and provide clean water for local businesses.

By harnessing solar energy, environmental impact is reduced and a clean, sustainable source of support is created for the people in the area.

ELECTRIFYING THE WORLD ONE PROJECT AT A TIME

Arhuaco Cacao Processing Center

In Colombia, the lack of reliable electricity limited a cacao processing plant’s production threatening the livelihoods of an indigenous, Arhuaco community. Against their core beliefs, families were pushed toward non-sustainable ventures such as logging and cattle farming. To address this, GivePower powered the facility with clean, reliable solar energy. Now, the livelihoods of more than 1,600 Arhuacos have been secured and expanded and over 400 hectares of forest-grown cacao will be protected.

Rose Mwakwere Girls School

At the end of 2024, GivePower installed a solar power microgrid at Rose Mwakwere Girls School in Kenya, providing electricity for lights, internet access and computers to transform the learning environment for students and teachers alike. But the students still faced challenges with unsafe drinking water. Building on our previous success, GivePower expanded its support to install a system that delivers clean, reliable drinking water at the school. Today the girls at Rose Mwakwere have the resources they need to learn, grow and thrive.

Maasai Mara Ranger Stations

To empower approximately 450 staff and rangers in protecting 564 square miles of the Maasai Mara’s conservancies in Kenya, GivePower has installed seventeen off grid solar systems, internet, and solarized weather stations.  These systems now power ranger outposts that previously lacked reliable electricity, enabling internet connectivity and the accurate weather and CO2 monitoring crucial for carbon avoidance studies and conservation efforts. This initiative strengthened the rangers’ mission, helping them to better protect wildlife, guide smarter land-use decisions and, ultimately, boost biodiversity across the region.

Ride 4 a Woman Handicraft Center

In Buhoma, Uganda, the nonprofit Ride 4 a Woman has worked hard to help uplift women struggling with HIV, domestic violence, hunger and poverty. Yet unreliable electricity made it difficult to grow their programs and help these women secure stable income. GivePower partnered with Ride 4 a Woman to install a solar system, powering computers and launching an online shop to sell their handcrafted goods to a global market. The system also includes outdoor lighting, enhancing safety for employees and for women accessing job training and support services at the community center.
